INFRASTRUCTURE
INLAND PORT
Malaysia’s first inland port, the Ipoh Cargo Terminal (ICT), is strategically located at the heart of Ipoh city. It allows seamless goods movement within and around the Kinta Valley to Port Klang
SEAPORTS
Perak has two seaports, Lumut Maritime Terminal (LMT) and Lekir Bulk Terminal (LBT). The LMT handles both dry and liquid bulk cargos such as coal, limestone, petroleum products and raw fabrication materials. It is also located adjacent to Lumut Port Industrial Park, a major heavy industrial area focusing on oil and gas fabrication and shipbuilding.
The LBT on the other hand is dedicated to handle coal for the Sultan Azlan Shah Power Station. It is currently South East Asia’s largest dry bulk unloading facility
ROADS & EXPRESSWAYS
Perak’s major cities are well-connected to the rest of Peninsular Malaysia through a vast network of roads and the North-South Expressway (NSE). It takes about 1.5 hours from Ipoh to Penang and about 2 hours from Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur
Another expressway, the West Coast Expressway (WCE) is currently under construction and will begin to operate in 2019. It will connect Taiping in Perak to Banting in Selangor, which will greatly improve the connectivity between the two states, particulary towards Port Klang
