Perak was the world's leading tin producer and the centre of the tin mining industry from the late 1880s until the mid 1980s. After the industry crashed, the Silver State moved on quickly towards industrialisation through heavy restructuring and redevelopment of other lucrative industries. With the help of its highly educated and skilled workforce, Perak has today become one of Malaysia's most urban states.
