Education
The Perak government has for many years striven to turn the state into a centre for educational opportunities. Recognising that education is an investment in the development of human potential and human capital and the key to the continued growth of its workforce, the Perak government has pledged a commitment towards developing schools and training institutions.
The people of Perak have ample access to all training institutions which provide continuing education and occupational training. Close collaborations fostered between industry players and institutions of higher learning have also helped students gain immediate employment and on-the-field training in a variety of fields. For those in the lower income bracket, the Perak government also offers a series of scholarship opportunities and education bursaries in order to enable every child a decent education.
Amongst the many notable universities and in educational institutions in Perak are the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Politeknik Ungku Omar, Institut Pertanian Parit and Institut Latihan Perindustrian Ipoh. Others worth mentioning are the Royal College of Medicine Perak, Kolej Darul Islam, and the Perak Matriculation College.
