Demographic
Perak Darul Ridzuan (Land of Grace), situated in Peninsular Malaysia, covers an area of 21,005 square kilometres. As of 2007, the population in Perak stands at 2.35 million people with an average population growth of about 0.9% per annum.
It comprises a total of 10 districts, eight small districts with 71 territories within each district. It also has some 800 villages and 15 local government districts.
Like most parts of Malaysia, Perak enjoys warm and humid weather all year round. It registers temperatures of between 23.7 to 33.2 degrees Celsius, with a humidity rate exceeding 82.3% and an abundant rainfall of up to 3,218mm per annum.
Perak is also covered with 10,713 square kilometres of forest land, 95.6% of which represents tropical rainforests and 4.4% of mangrove forests.
